Here’s something for the whole family to enjoy for the remainder of the school summer holidays…and beyond into autumn!
Fulham Road Picturehouse has a number of kid-friendly film screenings, with several different clubs suitable for different ages.
First off, their Kids’ Club takes place every Saturday morning. Exclusively for children and their parents or carers, tickets are priced from £3.30. There is a wide variety of exciting upcoming films for you to watch – from more recent blockbusters to classics that you’ll remember from your own childhood (and that you’d maybe like to relive!). Films such as The Little Mermaid and Puss in Boots (both released this year) to Cinderalla, Bambi, Peter Pan, The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast. And if you feel like watching it for what will surely be the 57th time for you, there’s also Frozen!
Toddler Time is another fantastic club for children being run at the Picturehouse. This club again offers tickets priced from £3.30, with screenings of features suitable for the younger members of your family – there’s several different screenings of Sarah & Duck, Tee and Mo and The Bravest Knight, for example, as well as the wonderful adaptations of Julia Donaldson’s books such as The Gruffalo, Zog, The Snail and the Whale, Room on the Broom and (my personal favourite), the amazing Stick Man.
In addition, the Picturehouse also holds regular Autism-Friendly Screenings. These screenings have a number of adaptations to reduce anxiety and over-stimulation for viewers that allow for a safe experience for those with autism, learning-difficulties and/or other sensory sensitivity. These adaptations include lights being left on low during the screenings, flms being played at a reduced volume, and customers being able to sit where they like and move around, make noise or take breaks from the screen whenever they need to. Autism-Friendly Screenings of older films – usually family-favourite animated classics – take place on the third Sunday of every month (with tickets priced from £3.30) whilst screenings of new films will take place either on weekday or Sunday mornings. (You can see a list of upcoming films being shown on the Picturehouse website.)
